RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project work for retirement programs including primarily qualified and nonqualified defined benefit, defined contribution, and postretirement welfare plans. The work will generally include financial analysis, plan design, and compliance. - Manage the annual actuarial valuations for pension and postretirement welfare plans for a variety of clients includes data management, analyzing data, determining plan liabilities, reconciling plan assets, and determining funding and expense requirements and projections. - Participate in a variety of new business activities for retirement services. - Complete special projects, such as early retirement windows and mergers and acquisition work, as needed. - Complete plan reporting and filing requirements. - Review benefit calculations and benefit statements. - Determine FAS 87 and FAS 106 plan expenses and disclosures and projections. - Prepare initial (near-final) drafts of a majority of correspondence on routine and unique actuarial services. - Project manage client work for a number of clients. - Provide direction to junior team members to meet client deliverable deadlines. - Provide quality review for work of more junior team members and peer reviews for other retirement consultants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree at accredited university, with a background in mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, or computer science. - Six plus years experience working with pension plans. - ASA/FSA and EA credentials preferred. - Must be client focused and have demonstrated successful client relationship/consultation skills. - Experience as an actuarial/retirement consultant on a wide variety of clients, with demonstrated potential to grow into the lead role. - Must be responsible and highly motivated. - Must have excellent written and communication skills. - Able to work independently as well as be a solid team member/team player. - Act as a project management resource with the ability to grow into role responsible for major client management relationships. - Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills are essential. - Fluency in WyVal, Pencost and other pertinent company’s actuarial tools, or demonstrated ability and aptitude to quickly learn these systems.
