RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Help drive Organization’s market consistent (MC) pricing methodology issues; promote product improvement and redesign to optimize MC pricing results; and develop position papers to assure consistency of methodologies and assumptions.
- Enhance pricing review process and ensure pricing compliance with Organization Standards of Practice.
- Understand, monitor, measure, manage and communicate risks and financial metrics related to pricing issues for all US business units, and support quarterly actuarial reporting.
- Support evaluation of viability of new products and related risk taking/mitigation strategies, including embedded options and guarantees, hedging programs, reinsurance.
- Consider tradeoffs between strengthening of balance sheet, capital, earnings, embedded value, and other risk/financial metrics.
- Work with BU pricing areas to improve sensitivity analysis to better anticipate risks, identify and address hedgeable and unhedgeable risk, and establish proactive risk management plans.
- Support Organization model governance and reviews of certain projection models and related actuarial assumptions, including stochastic valuations, IFRS Reserve Adequacy Testing, Statutory CF Testing, DAC, hedging issues, risk reporting, and compliance with Organization Standards of Practice.
- Support Organization IPO direction, working with management and BUs in managing and reviewing data requests, models and assumptions, and actuarial valuations.
- Provide leadership and resolution of emerging complex actuarial and risk methodological issues, and developing position papers and standards to assure consistency of methodologies and assumptions.
- Develop solid communication and relationships with the US businesses, US Finance and Investment Management, and Group CIRM.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- FSA or equivalent academic competence in risk management, with focus on market, credit, and insurance risks.
- Ideal candidate would be Investment/Finance Risk role with broad, seasoned risk management background.
- 10+ years experience in life insurance industry with at least 5 years of relevant ALM, investments, and capital markets experience.
- Several years of experience and demonstrated familiarity/comfort working with complex financial instruments, including derivatives and structured assets.
- Demonstrable expertise in financial reporting and solvency assessment on a market value, IFRS/GAAP and DAC, and Statutory basis.
- Strong knowledge/capability of market consistent approach to pricing and risk management including assessment of market value of liabilities under a risk neutral approach.
- Experience in US regulatory and rating agency capital models (eg, Risk Based Capital).
- Significant product and pricing background and comfort working with a wide spectrum of life insurance, annuity and investment products.
- Experience in life insurance company financial structuring in regards to mergers & acquisitions, capital management, reinsurance and capital markets solutions.
- Along with strong ability to be technical and detail oriented, must have excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication abilities to clearly articulate results to management.
- Seasoned and confident risk management leader that can work with senior risk managers and drive substantial risk related projects to completion.
- A team player that is able to function as a key member of the US Insurance Risk Management team, and demonstrate strong leadership skills and a high degree of ownership.
