RESPONSIBILITIES:

- This position assists the actuaries in evaluating reinsurance opportunities. In particular, this involves the following:
- Modeling individual life insurance opportunities in our pricing software (currently AXIS).
- This position requires substantial technical expertise and a developing knowledge of individual life insurance.
- Assist the actuaries in evaluation of individual life reinsurance opportunities (65%). Main responsibilities include:
- Review of information provided by the client.
- Setting up the pricing model using assumptions provided by the lead pricing actuaries.
- Running the pricing model and summarizing the results.
- Documentation and organization of the pricing models.
- Assist in the production and maintenance of various departmental reports such as the project log, production estimates, and special projects.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's Degree required.
- No previous actuarial or insurance experience is required, but is a positive factor in considering candidates.
- One actuarial exam required and successful completion of two actuarial exams is preferred.
- Ability to learn how to efficiently use various software packages (AXIS for pricing, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access).
- Experience in Microsoft Office or other applications is a positive.
- Knowledge of life insurance industry or products is a positive.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative/independent thinker.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects/requests simultaneously.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Ability to conceptualize and implement business solutions regarding actuarial issues.
- Technical proficiency - with the ability and interest to learn new skills and successfully transfer existing skills to others in the group.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Spends time on what is important.
- Independent problem solving ability.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
