RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides assistance in the preparation of departmental recommendations and analysis of management proposals affecting corporate solvency with primary emphasis on rate and reserve adequacy. - Provides assistance in the evaluation of financial experience data using prescribed actuarial techniques. - Assists in the preparation of semi-annual reports for the Operating Committee on the adequacy of rates. - Provides routine support in the research and application of rule and rate filing laws and regulations. - Provides assistance in the development of new rates and rating plans for new coverages, new lines and/or in new states and in compliance with legal requirement. - Constructs functional SQL programs for use in spreadsheets and database software. - Determines and analyzes customer requirements, uses system data and provides input needed by various departments and senior management as well as occasional production and special reporting of company experience to statistical agents, Insurance Departments and reinsures in order to produce business and scientific reports. - Able to demonstrate consistency of words and actions; protect confidential information; do what is right even when no one is watching; demonstrate sound business ethics; consistently comply with organizational values. - Able to be thorough and complete when working with assembling, processing, or providing detailed information; track details even when under pressure. - Able to persevere in accomplishing tasks or objectives; commit to long hours of work; do everything possible to reach goals; have a sense of urgency about getting results. - Able to use systematic techniques to define problems, options, and solutions; evaluate alternative solutions; solve technical or complex problems using logic. - Able to break down problems and information in order to systematically identify the cause of problems or make recommendations; gather information from multiple sources; analyze complex information; organize information for analysis. - Able to clearly express ideas, information, or concerns with the spoken word; present verbal information in a straightforward manner; ask questions in order to open channels of communication; listen to understand perspective of others. - Able to demonstrate respect and treat others in an honest and straightforward manner; keep dealings with others confidential; keep word and follow through on commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of actuarial experience in property and casualty insurance industry. Personal lines experience is preferred. - Candidates in this position are required to have successfully completed at least 3 CAS Exams. - BA/BS - Degree in Math, Statistics or related field.
