RESPONSIBILITIES:

- These health products include Cancer, Accident, Critical Illness and Short Term Disability Income. This position will report to the Senior Valuation Actuary.
- Calculate health statutory, tax and IFRS reserves and liabilities, including DAC by using Polysystems HealthMaster, Excel and Access.
- Assist in preparing the quarterly earnings analysis, including SOX.
- Assist in the annual financial budget and forecast projections, including earnings, balance sheet and inforce information.
- Responsible for completion of experience studies (e.g. Cancer benefit trends and claim payment lag studies).
- Prepare annual statement exhibits, schedules, reports and surveys.
- Work closely with IT staff regarding system issues as they pertain to proper valuation of reserves.
- Assist in supporting modeling projects, including cash flow testing, gross premium reserves and embedded value.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum 6 years actuarial experience with insurance products (Life and Health).
- Minimum 3 years valuation experience. Experience with Cancer business preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of insurance accounting - statutory, tax and GAAP. IFRS knowledge, a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of valuation software ? preferably, Polysystems HealthMaster.
- Experience with gross premium reserves and cash flow testing.
- Demonstrated expert level Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Demonstrated strong Access and VBA skills.
- Knowledge of actuarial modeling software (e.g. MoSes, TAS or other comparable software systems).
- Ability to work effectively with other locations; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated creative problem solving skills and ability to be flexible in working with ambiguous information.
- Demonstrated experience with mainframe administrative systems.
- Bachelor's Degree with at least a minor in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field.
- Career FSA, near FSA, or FSA.
- MAAA or has achieved the education and experience requirements to attain the MAAA within a year, preferred.
