RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Receive, load, process and edit data received from clients.
- Validate, reconcile and document data.
- Use software tools and programming skills to analyze and edit data, reconcile data changes, identify inconsistencies, and produce reports.
- Calculate benefits due to participants/members based on plan documents.
- Update and edit spreadsheets in Excel for benefit calculations.
- Produce benefit statements.
- Update databases such as Access, for storing data and benefit calculations.
- Update basic ProVal coding and run liabilities (e.g. inactive valuation runs).
- Update and edit spreadsheets in Excel and/or ProVal for analysis and valuations.
- Assist in preparation of valuation reports.
- Assist in the preparation of government filings.
- Assist/Support More Experienced Analysts and Consultants.
- Provide assistance to other RFM associates on various special projects and client requests.
- Communicate with actuarial client teams to understand desired results.
- Learn to use Lotus Notes-based client databases.
- Validate and reconcile data.
- Use valuation software.
- File reports and certificates with the relevant government and regulatory authorities.
- Provide support to actuaries on special projects.
- Benefit Calculations and Actuarial Factors.
- Ability to reference plan documents and SPDs.
- Calculate benefits and factors:
- Termination before retirement.
- Early/normal/late retirements.
- Conversion of annuity to lump sum (and vice versa).
- Cash balance account calculations, including conversion to annuity.
- Calculation of optimal forms of payment.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science.
- Experience using computer systems and programs.
- Basic database knowledge.
- Basic spreadsheet knowledge (Excel preferred).
