Responsibilities:
·Directs the Actuarial Pricing function for Homeowners, Dwelling Fire, Inland Marine and Personal Workers Compensation, including hiring of and leading staff, forecasting of statewide rate level needs and underlying assumptions, determination of indicated rate relativities and factors, and providing advice and counsel to Senior Management on Property related issues. ·Directs staff in the development of statewide rate level indications, including premium and loss trend assumptions, catastrophe/weather procedures, expense assumptions, and investment income analyses. ·Directs staff in the development of state-specific rate relativities, discounts, surcharges and factors using traditional actuarial methods and multi-variate analyses. ·Provides input in the development and maintenance of programs utilized to calculate rate level indications and supporting trends. ·Provide analyses and support to the Product Management organization, including actuarial indication packages, actuarial supporting exhibits for rate filings, and quantification of impact of proposed program changes. ·Provide support in development of financial plan forecasts, including normalized loss ratios, frequency and severity trend factors, and other planning elements. ·Manage the quality of data utilized to develop the rate level indications and assumptions. Provide leadership in the hiring, retention and development of Property pricing staff.
Qualifications ·Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society with 5 years of actuarial experience required. ·Minimum three years of pricing experience required, recent Personal Property Pricing experience a plus. ·If ACAS, must plan to complete examinations to Fellowship. ·Demonstrated ability to manage actuarial and technical staffs. High familiarity with recent developments in Personal Property Pricing (use of credit, multi-tier programs). ·Excellent problem solving and analytic skills. ·Strong planning and organizational skills. ·Strong communication and teamwork skills.
