Responsibilities:

·The incumbent plays a major role in performing and managing the administration of several pension clients.
·Processes (and reviews others) all benefit calculations including entitlements on termination, retirement, marriage breakdown and death
·Prepares, reviews and develops year-end annual pension statements and ensures accuracy of such
·Ensures government reporting requirements are met including the calculation and review of PAs, PARs, PSPAs, and provincial requirements
·Receives and responds to plan enquires and requests from clients and pension plan members
·Able to identify special circumstances
·Oversees preparation of membership and asset data for the actuary, and resolves data issues
·Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained with every transaction
·Provides information to clients regarding administration issues, timing, deadlines, etc
·Identifies inefficiencies with team administration processes and recommends improvements
·Maintains relationships with clients, through regular telephone contact and visits (where possible)
·Prepares and delivers internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends, attends sessions delivered by others
·Participates in preparation of monthly invoices for clients
·Trains and mentors analysts and co-op students on systems and procedures
·May oversee work for analysts and senior analysts, and provide feedback to manager regarding performance, coordinating workflow for team
·Participates on special projects as required

Qualifications

·Three - seven years of DB Pension Administration experience
·Post-secondary education and related courses in Pension Administration (CEBS)
·Strong knowledge of all provincial pension and tax legislation
·Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
·Excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills
·Strong leadership and team building skills
·Highly organized, ability to take initiative and be independent
·An excellent understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel and Access
·A background in Actuarial Science is helpful
·Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
