Responsibilities:
·To assist account managers and consultants on assigned accounts and to manage key assignments for clients, as assigned. ·To provide consulting/project management staff with technical and analytical assistance on actuarial projects/assignments. ·Growth and maintenance of company’s business by providing actuarial and technical support to account managers and consulting staff on client work relating to retirement/pension plans, including actuarial valuations, government reporting and filings, and preparation of pension statements and plan calculations. ·Possess a foundational understanding of the Retirement practice, and participate as needed on special project teams. Specific areas of expertise needed for this position include, but are not limited to: ·Prepare actuarial valuations of pension plans; ·Reconciliation of pension plan assets; ·Run actuarial valuation programs for ERISA, FAS87, FAS106, and PBGC; ·Prepare individual pension statements, pension calculations and provide all options; ·Preparation and filing of government forms and reports; ·Plan termination filings; ·Perform non-discrimination testing; ·Participates with consulting teams by providing technical support and in-depth analyses of client data. ·Ability to support consulting team as a result of gaining a thorough knowledge of various computer applications such as Val systems and spreadsheet analysis. ·Possesses a working knowledge of the entire pension plan valuation process. ·Assist with client proposals, presentations, management reporting, and overall peer review of all work. ·Interacts effectively with company team and client managers and works to understand clients’ objectives and concerns. ·Manages client open items list and responds to client requests and ad-hoc reporting requests as needed. ·Maintenance of client data, information and electronic files. ·When applicable, may also need to work directly with client team to ensure that all work is performed effectively and correctly. ·Possesses a basic understanding of financial measures and financial procedures and systems. ·Is able to follow up and ensure that explanations are provided for invoices, billable work and billing procedures.
Qualifications ·Bachelor’s degree (Mathematics or actuarial Sciences degree preferred) License or Certificate Requirements: Successful completion of some actuarial exams and intention to pursue future exams is preferred. ·One to two yrs. of retirement/actuarial work in consulting environment. ·Proficiency with MS Office Products, including Word and Excel; database experience is helpful. ·Must have strong communication skills and be detail-oriented. ·Client Service Orientation - Develops and maintains an understanding of client needs and expectations; Responds quickly to client requests and works to provide timely and accurate information and documentation; Works with a high level of interest, energy and enthusiasm to meet or exceed client expectations. ·Business Communication - Ability to give non-technical explanations to technical matters; Preparation and presentation of clear, accurate & concise reports. ·Teamwork and Resource Management - Understands and values all roles and functions needed in order to complete client projects and provide on-going service; Communicates and works well with colleagues at all levels and is viewed as a team player; Passes on consulting knowledge/technical skills to others as required. ·Ethical Behavior - Adheres to professional standards and ethics in one’s field and demonstrates the highest level of integrity and honesty in all interactions; Is open and honest in communications with others and takes responsibility for own mistakes or customer service problems. ·Analytical Thinking - Systematically tests and probes in order to eliminate potential problems. Is able to gain an accurate understanding of all the facts and the situation and quickly recognize when more information is needed. ·Project Management - Establishes priorities for multiple tasks/projects based on timeliness, importance, and urgency of project completion. Ensures that all work obstacles are addressed so as to minimize wasted time and is able to reprioritize projects as required. Accepts the delegation of responsibilities from management team so as to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client materials.
