RESPONSIBILITIES:

- This position offers significant opportunities to expand knowledge and expertise while participating as a member of a high performance actuarial team serving public sector clients.
- Gain exposure to and experience with a broad range of complex, technical issues unique to a wide array of clients in California and other western states.
- The Associate Actuary will have high visibility internally and externally, with possibilities for developing long-term into a recognized expert, given the caliber and size of clients served by this group.
- The Associate Actuary is assigned as Enrolled Actuary for pension valuations, with legal responsibility for assumptions, techniques, and accuracy applied in these valuations within the confines of company policy.
- Additionally, with a focus on large and complex public sector cases, the responsibilities for this position may include supervision of actuaries and other personnel assigned to cases.
- Acting as liaison between actuarial department and benefit consultants; engaging in ongoing client contact that may involve direct consulting responsibility; and, extensive communication with outside professionals.


QUALIFICATIONS:

- Key Requirements include a minimum of five years responsible pension experience, preferably with public sector valuation experience.
- Must be Enrolled Actuary and M.A.A.A., and have extensive knowledge of legal, regulatory, and all pension-related issues.
- Additional essential requirements include excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written), demonstrated project management, team leadership and/or supervisory skills, and spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software expertise.
