RESPONSIBILITIES: -Suggest ways of improving and designing premium rate structures which meet strategic financial objectives at account level with Underwriting, Marketing and Distribution. - Derive product profitability and the performance of Distribution to advise appropriate measures to meet strategic financial objectives at local level. - Support the management and monitoring current and prior years’ technical claims reserves and loss ratios. - Developing detailed spreadsheet models to consolidate actuarial information and providing analysis using the models to customers, the actuarial team and the business. - Performing complex actuarial pricing and reserving calculations. - Contributing to projects within the department to achieve defined business improvements. - Contributing to the business by providing actuarial input and wider business understanding to business projects. - Managing small project initiatives from research through to implementation. - Presenting and explaining actuarial information from projects to stakeholders. - Collecting, challenging and verifying data from financial systems and the business for use in financial planning and analysis. - Working with colleagues to produce detailed projections for senior managers in the actuarial department. - Providing programming and data extract support to Actuarial team. - Contracting with key business contacts on delivery of key goals/tasks outlining timescales and appropriate review methods. - Obtaining regular feedback on services provided to ensure continuous improvement and build feedback into improved processes. - Ability to coach colleagues / new starters in relevant departmental processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good progress through Core Technical exams. - Alternatively a financial/actuarial/general insurance professional qualification or demonstrating equivalent technical expertise and insurance knowledge to fulfill key accountabilities for the role. - Ability to communicate and build relationships with others. - Ability to grasp the significance and meaning of technical and complex issues. - Good financial analysis and modeling skills. - Basic product and corporate knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework. - Advanced/Intermediate level knowledge of Word, Excel, Visual Basic, SAS and other actuarial tools. - Ability to plan and organize own work. - Problem-solving/process improvement experience.
