Responsibilities:
·Responsible for contributing to the establishment of appropriate pricing structures for all business segments, the development of actuarial related financial reports, statistical analysis and the development of provider capitation and funding targets. ·Position has no direct reports, but may be responsible for the coaching/mentoring of junior actuarial students or interns ·Interaction with Sales, Underwriting, Finance, Product Development, Provider Financial Analysis, and reserving area. ·Reports to Director, Actuarial Services. ·Health Insurance analysis, projections and recommendations (Rate Note) [25%] ·Capitation and physician funding targeting [20%] ·Trend analysis and reporting [20%] ·Revenue and expense projection and comparison to budget and forecast [15%] ·Product rating and other contributions to the product development process [10%] ·Rate levels by area, and positioning product portfolio with the company and competitors [10%]
Qualifications ·Bachelor’s degree required, major in mathematics or actuarial science preferred ·Completion of 3 actuarial exams required (Year 2000 system), 4 or more preferred, with goal of FSA or ASA designation. ·Strong analytical ability and technical expertise in the health and managed care marketplace ·Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. ·Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with internal and external customers and all levels of the organization required. ·Working knowledge of health product development and pricing required. ·Ability to understand and improve on exisiting data structures required. ·Ability to obtain, gather and present data in a robust, concise, and business oriented format for internal and external customers required. ·Highly organized, motivated, self starter with excellent time management skills required. ·Advanced knowledge of Excel and Access required. ·Knowledge of PC and mainframe programming language preferred. ·Three (3) years financial analysis experience required, five (5) years preferred. ·Three (3) years experience in the health insurance industry preferred.
