Responsibilities:
·Develop and interpret the Canadian GAAP financial results and SOE for the GSFP product lines with respect to actual performance, forecasts, Corporate Plan, and DCAT. ·Ensure soundness and adequacy of reserve and capital levels ·assess the impact and suitability of valuation assumptions. ·Responsible for the annual review and submissions of divisional pricing plans (in conjunction with GSFP Pricing Actuaries). ·Providing timely estimates of C GAAP earnings for current results, forecasts, and strategic planning. ·Developing and supervising C GAAP valuation assumptions/methodologies for the GSFP Division. ·Coaching analysts performing C GAAP financial reporting and valuation functions in GSFP. ·Analyzing quarterly financial reports, forecasts and plans with emphasis on the sources of earnings. ·Establishing and monitoring required capital levels (RBC, MCCSR, and economic) for all product lines and operating territories (including reinsured products) within GSFP. ·Ensuring compliance with Canadian statutory and tax requirements. ·Assisting GSFP pricing actuaries in assessing risk profile of reinsurance arrangements and determining appropriate price constraints.
Qualifications:
·Working knowledge in Canadian GAAP and the Canadian Asset and Liability Method (CALM). ·Expertise in AXIS for modeling, forecasting, and financial reporting. ·Analytical and problem-solving ability with strong technical actuarial skills. ·Ability to lead projects and manage others to achieve high-quality results under extremely tight deadlines for quarterly financial reporting. ·Communication and interpersonal skills to deal with both technical and non-technical audiences. ·Ability to think and operate strategically. ·Ability to establish and maintain internal and external professional and business relationships. ·Highly developed project management skills to manage multiple and diverse projects concurrently while producing required deliverables on time and within standards. ·Proven leadership, coaching, negotiation, influence, and relationship management skills. ·Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, or equivalent. ·Substantial actuarial work experience in positions of increasing responsibility. ·Several years experience in C GAAP and CALM financial reporting. ·Experience in AXIS modeling, forecasting, and financial reporting. ·Experience in financial analysis, with familiarity of Canadian valuation and capital requirements. ·Current knowledge of pricing and valuation across product lines. ·Specific knowledge of valuation/capital requirements in Canada and US. ·Experience relevant to group annuity, institutional, and retail product pricing and design. ·Familiarity with traditional reinsurance structures and arrangements and experience in reinsurance/retrocession financial management.
