Responsibilities:
·Identify opportunities to implement new actuarial methods and/or update existing tools to produce more meaningful results ·In-depth understanding of specific risks; Identify internal and external data sources for quantifying risks; ensure adequate provision for risk in pricing ·Review recommendations with regard to pricing policy ·Direct and complete state rate filings. Handle special case and benefit pricing and filing issues as required ·Communicate with state insurance department staff ·Oversee actuarial functions to assure compliance with legislation ·Represent actuarial on legislative committees ·Analyze data and reserve levels for accuracy ·Comply with applicable regulations, laws and standards ·Recommend reserve liability valuation policy ·Address the most complex Customer issues, which don't fall clearly into other areas and need legal consultation ·Perform data analysis, which quantifies risks. Identify potential areas of risk. Recommend course of action ·Oversee/manage pricing tools and rating systems ·Signoff on detailed business requirements for systems development ·Manage training and user support for rating and other systems ·Provide information to State and Internal auditors ·Prepare and communicate data to external regulators ·Verify data and present to management ·Maximizes available resources not under direct control to complete projects ·Eliminates unnecessary functions and resources ·Exhibits innovative use of resources
Qualifications ·College degree ·2 or more years experience in health insurance or related field ·Proficiency with Microsoft Excel ·Experience with Visual Basic preferred
